Ailill Áulomm, recorded in the genealogies as a common ancestor of the Éoganachta, Dál Cais and other population groups, and a well-known character in literary and historiographical tradition, plays an important role in medieval Irish stories about the Battle of Mag Mucrama. This paper will consider why his name as found in one of these stories, Scéla Moṡauluim, should deviate from the usual form of his name in other sources.
